The Heavens Declare

The picture above was taken on my way home from a trip a few months ago and I couldn't resist preserving such a lovely sight, even though God creates sunset after sunset, flower after flower, and human after human, without ever making any of his work less than it was before.

He desires to see us delight in what He has created and even unbelievers give Him glory when they marvel at the handiwork He has so carefully crafted.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1 NIV

We are often so busy flying from one place to another that we don't pause to notice the million little miracles around us. The way the trees stand proudly, the wind rustles through the wildflowers, the birds soar in the sky.

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. (Job 12:7-10).

The beasts declare God's glory as they run in the fields, stomping, wild and free.

The 3.5 trillion discovered fish and the undiscovered ones tell you of his majesty.

The birds sing his praises and glorify him.

All creation knows He is the Lord, but His people quickly doubt his sovereignty and goodness. So, praise him with everything that has breath today, for He is good, and all He does is good.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! (1 Chronicles 16:34).
