I stared out the window, and my heart was filled with wonder. The skies were streaked with colors of orange, pink, and blue, like the stroke of my paintbrush on a blank canvas, yet infinitely more stunning and glorious.
The clouds of marshmallow fluff floated by as we flew thousands of feet above tiny squares of houses, roads, and fields.
The beauty of the skies and colors were beautiful; yet even more I was overwhelmed by a God who sees, and hears every human heart and whispered prayer.
Not many things strip away your self-sufficiency and pride like being up in an airplane looking down at how small we really are!
Mist and Blades of Grass
It is easy for me to forget and be blind to the truth of 1 Peter 1:24-25, “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
As someone once said, we are a mist, but a meaningful mist to God. That is the right way of looking at things, my friends. The Lord and His word will last forever yet He cares for and loves each one of us!
Even as we are watching and living in the chaos and upheaval of the upcoming election, we can rest in the authority of our God who has infinitely more power than our government and the presidential candidates.
No matter how anxious or concerned we may be about the unknowns of our future and what will take place we can only continue to say, "Your will be done, Lord."
"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all." (1 Chron. 29:11).
